Speedster

My sister and her family are in town for their Spring Break. My dad thought it would be fun to go race the go carts in Phoenix. I had never heard of it until my dad and a few of his buddies went and checked it out. F1 Raceway in Phoenix to be exact. And to my amazement, it was really fun! The go karts go almost 45 miles an hour and you are zooming around this indoor track and sliding around the corners, trying not to get passed or hit. It was kind of funny to see some older guys there with there own helmets and driving gloves. (come on people, get a life!) But it was good family bonding and something I may do again!!

Although Shannon is the only one smiling in this photo, it was FUN!

Happy Easter!

What is Easter without an easter egg hunt? Grandma and Granpda Scanlan had us over for an Easter Egg hunt along with the Paz Soldans and the Hoovers. (Both and Jason's sisters and their families.) The triplets were the only other cousins there, but we had a great time and Quinn actually enjoyed finding the eggs!

Loss

Each of us live our lives with the hope that we are doing the best we can and that we can avoid tragedy and loss. I have suffered a terrible loss and will never be the same. My heart aches and therefore will not go into details at this time, but definitely want to say THANK YOU to those people who prayed for us, who loved us, who supported us and who felt our loss. What an experience to have to put things in perspective. The outpouring of love was overwhelming and I am grateful for people like you!

My baby is ONE!

One day Old
First time in a high chair
Loves to eat bubbles

10 Reasons I Love Quinn:
1. He has the biggest, most beautiful blue eyes.
2. He tries to make me laugh.
3. He was sleeping through the night at 6 weeks.
4. He is a great eater, not picky and I don't have to use a bib anymore.
5. He is curious, busy, and knows what he wants.
6. He is genuinely excited when his dad comes home.
7. He talks (da da da, na na na, loo loo loo) even when he is by himself.
8. He will fall asleep in the car and let me move him to his crib without waking up.
9. His cheeks are sooooo kissable, and he lets me kiss them!
10. He is my baby.

Happy Birthday, Quinn! You have touched our hearts and changed our lives. Your joyful spirit and silly laugh makes us all HAPPY!

Flying

I have not always been afraid to fly. I think it started when I was a Freshman in college. I would fly home for the holidays and extreme anxiety and terror would come over me everytime I would get dropped off at the airport. Everytime the plane starts backing away from the terminal I think "I can do this, it's gonna be OK." Then the plane starts its run down the tarmac and I start freaking out. Hands start sweating, breathing gets very difficult and I think I am going to die. I best relate it to the movie French Kiss whenMeg Ryan is going to "Anyone Can Fly" School. "We're going down! We're gong down!" She unbuckles her seatbelt and actually busts out of the plane. (mock flight ofcourse) That is all I can think of when the plane gets lifted off the ground. "WE ARE GOING DOWN!" I want to get off the plane! I listen to all the sounds of the engine and wonder "Is that normal? Are we having technical difficulties?" I have met some nice and unusual people on airplanes from this fear that I have. I am sure strangers might freak out when they see a full grown woman breathing like she is in labor and jumping up everytime we hit a bump, so I try to warn people before we even take off. "I am extremely afraid to fly and am a little nervous right now." Mostly people are empathetic and are very nice. I have grabbed strangers arms, crotches, legs, you name it.....It is quite embaressing. Then my fear was multiplied a zillion times after 9/11 happended. I wouldn't fly at all for a long time.
My fear of flying has taken on a new dimension. There is the best Post Office only a few miles from our house. I like to go there because there are never any lines and it is a brand new Post office. But it happens to be on the outskirts of a small airport. As I was driving to the Post Office the other day, I was watching the planes take off. Now it seems my fear of flying has turned into an all encompassing fear of airplanes. I would watch as the plane lifted off the ground and my first thought was that it was going to explode. No, it was going to nose dive. No, it was going to not quite make it off the ground and go skidding across the runway. No, a small fire was going to break out, but no one would notice until they were 36,000 feet above. What is wrong with me!?!?! I can't ride them peacefully, and apparently I can't watch them either.
Did I mention I have to get on a plane exactly a week from today? "It's gonna be OK. I can do this."

Glendale Arizona

Although I had no vested interest in either of the teams playing in the Super Bowl this year, we thought it would be cool to head out to Glendale and see what the NFL Experience was all about. Of course, there were people everywhere and it was a bit insane. We walked around a bit and heard that the wait to buy tickets to get into the NFL Experience was 3 hours. WHAT?!?! So we bought some tickets from a guy on the side of the street and walked right in. Whew! I really wanted to see some celebrities, but no luck this time. Although there were some NFL guys signing autographs, I had never heard of any of them, so I didn't care. Apparently, Sunday was the day to go as Ryan Seacrest was hosting a Super Bowl Pre-Show and was standing on the red carpet right where we were the day before!! Dang it!

Projects

We have lived in our house for over 2 years now and it still feels like we are still moving in. There isn't so much unpacking to do, per say, we just have not taken the time to organize, decorate, and put things away like a homeowner should do. I have vowed to make this project week. Everytime I go into a room I see something that needs to be done. I am starting with the master bedroom. We recently got new furniture for the master bedroom so most of my clothes have been strewn about the room and left for Quinn to crawl all over. Instead of putting them away in the nice dresser we bought. Next will be the pantry. It screams "ORGANIZE ME!" So, I will. And I will organize and clean until I can't stand it anymore. Or, uh, I mean, until Friday when I declare project week is over!!! Ofcourse I will let you know of the progress when project week is over. Wish me luck!
