1st Haircut

For those of you who know Quinn, it took a long time for this little rugrat to get hair. Well now that he has it, it is a little out of control! So while we were in CA we decided to buzz it. His cousin, Grant was sporting the mohawk while we were there, and though I was tempted to follow suit, we just gave Q-man a buzz! Thanks Uncle Steve for buzzin" him!

Swimming

Since we all know that is is hotter than HELL here in the summer (sorry for the language mom), it is important that you and your kids know how to swim. So, we signed Quinn up for swimming lessons. He has had 4 so far. They started out easy enough and he was a good sport. The mommies even get in with the kids and learn the techniques to teach the child whenever you are in a pool. Then teacher Sara got a hold of Quinn and made him go under. I didn't mind so much and thought it was good for him to get used to. But Quinn has a problem opening his mouth, wanting to taste and swallow the water. He does this in the bathtub as well. So while teacher Sara is dunking him, he has his mouth open, tongue out. Of course he chokes on the water and is mad and crying. Every swimming lesson since has been the same. He sees Sara and immediately starts crying. That is until she busts out her licorice. Red Vine anyone? Quinn, we are finding, is easily bribed with food. (and just so you all know, he is only 70% in weight. But 95% in height.) So I am OK with a little bribery now and then. We have one more lesson. I am hoping with some licorice and good coercing that he will be able to go under without crying. I have not been able to get a lot of photos of him in the actual swim lesson, because I am in there with him. But here are a few....

Waiting for the lesson to begin
For a special treat, a "ride" on Shamu

All this boy is thinking is "get me off the whale. Where is the licocrice lady?"

AAHHH! Happy again. Notice licorice in hand.

New Kicks

My new Nikes

Last Saturday I went running. I left Quinn with Jason and headed out for a morning jog. I ran for 4 miles. I was pretty proud of myself. When I got back I realized how much I love to run and how much I had missed it. It is the best strees reliever, best time to think, and the best exercise. I have been walking and had given up on running because I didn't want to push a stroller while doing it. But now I have had a taste of the freedom, a taste of the runners high, a taste of what I used to have. And now I want it back. So I got myself a pair of new running shoes. I am so excited! I got the kind that you can use with an I-pod Nano. I am not sure of all the bells and whistles, but I have had the chip for some time and just never got the shoes. I have heard great things about it, so I am excited to use it with my new shoes!

So Long Seavey's!

This is the Seavey's. Since her blog is "private" perhaps I will not use their real names. From here on out the wife will be referred to as Gina, the husband-Jeff, and the kiddo-Jake. Gina is my walking buddy. We both wanted to get rid of some baby weight, so we started walking together about 5 or 6 months ago. When you spend an hour a day with someone almost everyday, you get to know them pretty well. You know their likes, dislikes, their past loves, all about their husband, their labor, their dreams, their wants, their most embaressing moments, their proudest moments, their gifts, their talents, even their weaknesses. (although Gina does not have any!) We quickly became more than walking friends and started to hang out even MORE than our alotted walk time. Gina is someone that you want as a friend. She has a heart of gold. She is caring and understanding and she will even laugh at your jokes. She has the most adorable son that you have ever seen! She is talented and creative and patient. She will go way out of her way for you, whether she likes/dislikes you or even knows you! Gina's husband, Jeff, is the same way! He would give the shirt off his back to you if you ever needed it. Jeff, Gina and Jake are leaving. They are moving far far away. They say that they are coming back. They say that they like it here and hope to return in 3 years. You hope they move close to you. Believe me-What a great family. Wherever they end up, they will touch lives and help everyone! Good luck in OHIO!!! I will miss you and think of you often!!! XOXOXOXO

The Camera Has Been Found!

Jason had a revelation that the camera may have been left in his backpack after a "jeeping" trip he took with some friends! TA DA! There it was! So to get us started off, here are some pics of Quinn. (this is for you, Shan!)

A picture is worth....

We lost our camera! I haven't blogged for so long, because I feel naked without some pics to post. There has been so much going on and I have nothing to show for it! Quinn is taking swimming lessons. I for sure wish I had a camera to capture those sweet moments. This boy thinks he owns the pool. Jason's sister, Tia, is graduating with a Master's Degree. I wanted to take a picture of her in her cap and gown. She has worked so long and so hard for this! We are all so proud of her and happy that she accomplished her goal. I got a new swimsuit. (glad we didn't have the camera for that) It is my usual black, but a tankini instead of a bikini. Having a baby really ruins it for you. We took an anniversary trip to S. California and stayed in Newport Beach. I would have loved to take a picture of Quinn on the beach. So until we find that camera, or maybe get a new one, I may be out.....Who wants to read a blog that doesn't have any pictures? That's the best part, I think we can all admit.
