Recently my friends mom passed away and I have been racking my brain on what to get her that might help cheer her up. After Jessica passed, someone brought me over cupcakes, and believe it or not, it did cheer me up! So yesterday Quinn and I made the haul to Scottsdale to pick up some cupcakes at the famed "SPRINKLES". This store has been open since May, but this was my first visit. The store was very, uh, vanilla. Not a lot of color, not a lot going on. The cupcakes are displayed in a tiny casing and I was disappointed that there were not more to make my tastebuds salivate. I ordered a box of 6. $21.05! What? For 6 cupcakes? I guess for one it is $3.25. When I arrived at my friends work with the cupcakes she graciously offered me one. I had to take her up on it because I needed to try this $3.25 cupcake. I had a dark chocolate one. It was Good. Great? Nah. Just good. I won't be hurrying back there anytime soon.

What a bummer! I have wondered about Sprinkles. I just don't believe anything can come very close to Magnolia. Those cupcakes are burned into my tastebuds. I have a found a source that are pretty damned good. They are tiding me over till I get back to NYC. Next time you are around I will order some and you can critique them.
Interesting! Thanks for saving me $3.25. I had been wondering about their cupcakes.
Yeah, I saw them on Oprah. Just goes to show you that everything she suggests ain't all that. Thanks for saving me the 3.25 and the gas money I would have blown. I'm official calling you tomorrow (Sunday) - Seriously!
That's good to know, because I've been SO curious. Have you had the ones at La Grande Orange? They are amazing!! I just think the Sprinkles ones don't even look that good. They're too perfect looking.
I have not tried Sprinkles yet, but I have tried Lulu's. You should try those, they are REALLY great!
sorry to hear they werent amazing..I think I will still try them at least once!
I can not imagine paying that much even for a great cupcake. They are all the talk with some of the women out here. one of the husbands commutes to OC for work and will make stops at sprinkles on his way home for all the women. seems frivolous to me.
but none the less. how very thoughtful of you.
I know I would fill cared about being presented with a fab box of yummy sprinkles.
I remember when my dad died (4 yrs ago) I just wanted people to acknowledge it. i think it is human nature to not bring it up b/c it is sad. but it is a big piece of someone to loose a loved one.

Sounds like the cupcakes we had in Boston called "Lucys". They where big and expensive but didn't wow us. I'm still going to take the plunge and try Sprinkles.
Ok, I just tried Sprinkles today for the first time. NOT the shizzle!
We have a cupcake store around here too. I've been wanting to try it out and we did a few weeks ago and it was nothing special. Just a normal cupcake and we paid $3.25 for it. Definately not worth it.
